Country Hotel Like Home
As they describe on their website, La Fuente is truly like spending the weekend at your friends’ country home. My daughters ran back and forth from the pool to the library refrigerator for ice cream bars. My husband enjoyed the “help yourself” style bar to pour a pre-dinner scotch, and I loved the bookshelves full of books to share. “Leave one, take one” was the casual philosophy.
We were spoiled with the double suite, number 7. Its two bedrooms, large sitting room with fireplace and private terraces were more than we had reserved. I have discovered that traveling off season and with children has its perks. Upgrades for our family have happened many times when hotels find their suites empty and a family who would appreciate more space. The breezes and spectacular views of the Ronda countryside were indeed fit for a princess. Breakfast was delivered to our suite each morning. The staff was thoughtful and flexible in regards to dinner, asking if our daughters wanted something simple or perhaps early in our room, allowing us adults to linger and enjoy the late Spanish dinners. My husband and I relished the fresh and creative meals on the terrace each evening, the bullfrogs serenading us with magical sounds.
