We had been in the quaint little Spanish village of Gaucin for a week, my two young daughters and I. The anxiety I felt caught me completely off guard. What was I thinking, being in a foreign country where I knew no one, didn’t speak the language, and had two young children?!
One of our most memorable Spanish experiences was the Fallas festival in Valencia, Spain. I had heard about this city-wide street festival with its towering sculptures that were burned on the last night, but I was in no way prepared for the pageantry and processions, the afternoon mascleta and brilliant La Nit del Foc fireworks at 2:00am.
