One of our most memorable Spanish experiences was the Fallas festival in Valencia, Spain. I had heard about this city-wide street festival with its towering sculptures that were burned on the last night, but I was in no way prepared for the pageantry and processions, the afternoon mascleta and brilliant La Nit del Foc fireworks at 2:00am.

I am determined to learn how to cook a whole fish while at home in Spain. My first attempt at dorado fell apart, a travail, but I enjoyed the experience to the fish market and mastered the Spanish recipe by the end of my travels.

We are in Barcelona, home to Gaudi and his Sagrada Familia, Holy Family church. We came up out of the metro station into the bright blue Mediterranean sky and it’s there, on top of me, calling my eyes to the sky.

Spain Travel - Luxury Hotel in Ronda

The fairy tale town of Ronda in southern Spain perches high atop the El Tajo gorge, 328 ft (100 m) above the surrounding countryside. It was the dramatic position of the town that drew us to Ronda, but it was the Hotel La Fuente that captured our hearts and will take us back.
